Executive Threats · The Matrix

How exposure reduction shifts the risk.

Executives face ten major categories of threat. Each carries a different blend of risk, how often it happens, and severity, how damaging it is when it does. Plot them and one thing is unmistakable: most of the pathways begin with exposed data, and the worst of them are the ones that removing it does the most to close.

How to read the chart

Across is risk, up is severity. Top right is the corner nobody wants: frequent and damaging. Fill is the firm's judgment of how much reducing exposure changes each threat. Blue means the attack path runs on data that can be taken down.

01 · The comparison

Ten threats, side by side.

Risk and severity on a scale of 1 to 10, the digital triggers an adversary exploits to escalate from data to danger, and how far exposure reduction lowers each one. Shaded rows are the five where it does the most.

ThreatRiskSeverityDigital triggersReduction potential
Assassination & Targeted Violence210Home addresses, travel itineraries, extremist chatterHigh
Suppressing addresses and itineraries removes the most common targeting vectors.
Home Invasion68Property records, vacation home leaks, contractor dataHigh
Broker suppression and property data control lower the attack surface directly.
Kidnapping & Abduction49Family posts, school listings, travel routinesHigh
Family footprint erasure and education close the most common planning vectors.
Stalking & Harassment96Doxxing, leaked numbers, obsessive online attentionHigh
Rapid doxxing suppression and takedowns cut the harassment channels directly.
Swatting & False Emergency Calls77Residential addresses, spoofed caller IDsMedium
Wiping addresses reduces the opportunities. Spoofed caller IDs are harder to control.
Travel Vulnerabilities68Flight tracking, LinkedIn updates, conference schedulesMedium
Travel leaks often come from public disclosures, not only from brokers.
Family Exploitation98Social posts, Venmo transactions, relative exposureHigh
Family-focused suppression and monitoring are critical to reducing this risk.
Event & Protest Risks78Event announcements, activist forum chatterLow to medium
Wiping helps with itinerary leaks. Events are public by design.
Insider Threats68Leaked credentials, online grievances, LinkedIn exposureMedium
Digital suppression helps. Insider intent is a separate variable.
Supply Chain & Vendor Exposure67Contractor profiles, invoices, vendor oversharingLow to medium
Vendor behaviour is often outside the executive's control, so the reduction is limited.
02 · Where removal has the biggest impact

Five threats, one lever.

The highest-severity and highest-risk threats on the board rely most heavily on digital exposure. Assassination attempts, kidnapping, family exploitation and stalking are planned from the same fragments: addresses, itineraries, school listings, a relative's post.

Risk 2 · Severity 10

Assassination & Targeted Violence

Suppressing addresses and itineraries removes the most common targeting vectors.

Risk 6 · Severity 8

Home Invasion

Broker suppression and property data control lower the attack surface directly.

Risk 4 · Severity 9

Kidnapping & Abduction

Family footprint erasure and education close the most common planning vectors.

Risk 9 · Severity 6

Stalking & Harassment

Rapid doxxing suppression and takedowns cut the harassment channels directly.

Risk 9 · Severity 8

Family Exploitation

Family-focused suppression and monitoring are critical to reducing this risk.

03 · Moderate and low impact

Some threats can only be reduced, not erased.

Travel exposure often comes from public disclosures rather than brokers. Events are public by design. Vendor oversharing is usually outside the executive's direct control. Suppression still helps with the itinerary leaks that feed all three, and the rest is handled by monitoring and discipline rather than removal.

Swatting & False Emergency Calls

Insider Threats

Digital suppression helps. Insider intent is a separate variable.

Low to medium · Risk 6 · Severity 7

Supply Chain & Vendor Exposure

Vendor behaviour is often outside the executive's control, so the reduction is limited.

The firm's view

The chart shows it plainly. Exposure reduction is not theory, it is leverage: the most severe and most common threats are also the most preventable through taking the footprint down.
